Condensation

Your heart is so cold.
Mine is like frost.

Who says digital cameras arn't any good?

Tuesday, 22 December 2009

You are not an acception.

Ok, go ahead say what you like about me.
Call me superficial and a copy cat for being interested in fashion because I know its not true.

You think you are so excluded from it all.
You think you are so... 'different' and 'unique'
You dont follow the crowd.
You dont buy clothes because you think they are fashionable.

Of course not.
Well I have news for you, and as they say in The Devil Wears Prada...
"This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff."
People think just because I am interested in fashion I must be thick. Let me tell you I get A* - B grades with very little work or revision, and now I am trying just think what I am capable of.
Now tell me I am stupid.

I get the grades so I can choose to do what I want. What I enjoy.
I want to fashion management. That is business studies directed at a particular industry.
I have a plan in life & I will achieve it. Ambition drives me. Fashion drives me.
And why am I so interested in this industry?
Well as I said in my personal statement...
'...the fashion industry is not just another form of business. Fashion enables people to express themselves in a way words or art could never convey... It is intriguing that the world influences fashion and fashion influences the world. This influence is not just limited to clothing and accessories, but to every aspect of life, from culture to the economy...'

You have your idols, or in psychological terms, role models. They do things you think are 'pretty' and 'cool'.
These people are called innovators.
Then it gets copied by a few people - early adopters - if its only you copying it it can't be fashion, or can it?
Because next it is noticed by designers, high end and highstreet, or even just other people you know.
It leaks around until a year later, after you stopped doing it you find everyone else is now doing it.
You call it 'mainstream'. Now you think its 'in fashion'.
Let's face it though, your role models were inspired by something. Be that someone else, a film, a fashion magazine, a song, a novel, they were inspired by something that was also influenced by something that was itself influenced by fashion and the creative ideas of those in the indutry of arts.
Art is fashion. Fashion is art.

Its a cycle.

Perhaps you are a late adopter, and think you are retro or vintage, or perhaps your trying something that unknowingly to you has already been done.

The truth is you can't escape it.
Your drinking it, breathing it all in.
Its dictates your life.
Not just what you wear.
The music you listen to...
The house you live in...
The words you use to communicate...
The friends you keep...
The things you believe in...

So stop being so ignorant.
Get over yourself, and stop undermining what I am interested in.
It delves in deeper than you think.

Open your eyes.

It is snowing on Oxford St!

Or atleast it is outside John Lewis & Selfridges. Its raining bubbles outside Liberty. Caos!
After you have been ill all week it is not a good idea to go and completely naker yourself in Oxford St in December. Oh my g.
It wasn't even a sucess. Stillgot presents to buy. Bahh Humbug!
Anyway guess whats back? THE OUTFIT POSTS! YAAAAAYYYY!

Dress - Stolen Girlfriends Club @ www.idontlikemondays.us
Shoe Boots - Topshop

I love this dress. I don't care what people have said. I think its like marmite because at school someone thought it looked like a dress the poor girls wear in 'A Little Princess'. I didn't take that as a direct compliment, but people also stop me and ask where its from too so thats nice :)
I like having rare clothing, especially if its not vintage because it feels even more special.
I remember I used to be known as Topshop girl which made me sick, despite that being because at 14 most girls still only dressed in chavy New Look / River Island, and God forbid, Jane Norman *gags* clothing.
I am no longer Topshop girl anymore, but everyone else is.

Ohh and I meant to post this ages ago...

I got it in Barcelona.
That was a cool trip. Gaudi is awesome.
This now is pride and joy on my bedroom wall.
Meoooow!

Recomended Read.

"When you have insomnia, you're never really asleep, and you're never really awake."  - Fight Club (Movie)
One of the most quoteable films ever, alongside Mean Girls.
"4 for you Glen Coco. YOU GO GLEN COCO!" - Mean Girls

But the point is im really ill with a bad cough which is preventing me from sleeping because I can't breath properly. It feels like what I imagine being at the top of Mount Everest feels like.
But I woke up this morning to check my blackberry and found a lovely comment on here.

http://englishrosedarlingg.blogspot.com commented to tell me she loved my blog and she has done a little post on me which was ever so sweet and cheered me up immensly.
Thank you very much :)
I must say likewise. She posts adorable images, ones I know I would never of found on weheartit by my own accord. Fabulous, really rather sweet.
And shes a fellow Edie obsessive which gains points in books!
So thats my recomended read :)
along with Fight Club the novel. The best book I have ever read. Chuck Palahniuk is pure genious.

'Genious, genious, genious!' 'I dream of genious.' - Factory Girl

I don't normally find Brad Pitt attractive but how hot is this screen shot?

'Just be yourself.' 'Well which one?'

I made this recently on Polyvore, put it on weheartit and its all over Tumblr
Just thought incase anyone saw it I would credit it to myself.

This happened to a girl I semi know about a week ago
(yes semi know)
and it seems similar stuff happens to us, we like the same stuff, music, clothing, idols (with the exception of my love for Britney Spears) and its kinda creepy. We write the same things aswell, and speek similarly.
I think she copies me occasionaly too writing things I wrote on my myspace/facebook on hers almost identically, similar haircuts and colours even when I dyed mine. Painted her nails the same as she saw in a picture I had in my profile picture.
It's not just me being paranoid either, well maybe the extremeness of the copying (we could just have the same brain), because I noticed it but thought I was being a wierdo so kept quiet, then my friends started saying it too so there you go. Im not a looney.
Anyway this just adds to that list or similar stuff. Im not really sure why its relevent to anything atall, im just ranting,
Rant Rant Rant
:)

Heres another Edie image I made...

This art and expression polyvoring seems to be working out for me.
Ohh and my bedroom is almost finished so I can start doing outfit posts again.
I've been a really pathetic blogger recently and my posts are not very fashion related at the moment.
I make a pact now to fix all that starting tomorrow.
Aplogese.

Off with your head!

I seem to be off with mine. I was tidying my room to decorate it a few weeks ago and whilst clearing out this incident of photography just happened. I am not actually a psychopath who planned this, but they are kinda rubbish so you may be able to tell. I have never studied photography though so that is my excuse!
I don't just decapitate dolls in my spare time either, I found it this way.

(With the death of Daul Kim [RIP] I feel a little insensitive posting this so apologese if I offend anyone.)

Poor Jade.
She was going through her feminist punk stage.
Bra burning n all that.

Thanks for all the comments and to all my new followers :)
I think I have been able to get back to all comments now and return the favour.
Keep them coming I love reading everyones opinions!
& remember if you wish to be on the blog roll...
just ask, I won't bite!

I can almost see the wizard through the curtains

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been up to the ceiling in things to do. Still am. I've nearly got my UCAS application sorted which will be a relief! My bedroom is nearly presntable and once I get my bed in and tidy a bit outfit posts will be soon to follow.
I have decided my outfit sets on polyvore seemed a little boring. I am good and putting outfits together but as sets they dont look so great so I am trying this whole art & expression type set thing instead. What do you think?

Oh and has anyone in the UK been watching Misfits? I am sooo hooked. As a major Skins fan, having never missed an episode since the day it started, dare I say, I am starting to wonder if Misfits might be better. It may just be because the new series 3 Skins was a bit rubbish in comparison to the first but Misifts is blooming amazing! If you havent yet seen it, I strongly recomend it!

Ed Westwick

I was born in the same hospital as Ed Westwick!

And apparently he only moved from Stevenage to NYC when he got the role in Goossip Girl, so when I lived in Stevenage when I was little or visiting after I moved to London its quiet possible I could have passed him in the street or something; been in the same room as him! WOWWWWEEEE.
I could have been born in the same room!

Sorry I am a little excited by this news as you may tell.
I cannot believe I didn't know this before.

1st Lewis Hamilton, now Ed Westwick; maybe I will go on to achieve something great?

PS: The shoes from two posts down came today. B-E-A-UTIFUL!
&&&&
The Vogue Glamour issue doesn't have one single picture of Edie Sedgwick in it,
not even in the earrings section.
I mean Helllo?!

LUELLA DOWNTURN!

" British fashion designer Luella Bartley's label has ceased trading after her main financial backer pulled the plug on any further investment." - BBC NEWS

How uber depressing. I didn't think her s/s 10 collection was great but overall she is one of my favourite designers and this devistates me. I really hope she gets the funding again because it would be such a shame for such a talent to disapear.

WE LOVE YOU LUELLA BARTLEY!!!!!!!

£££££$$$$£$£$£££££$$$$$

I just bought this dress online (urband renewal @ urban outfitters) in the sale (was £125 now £59.99) so that was a bargain. I have bought it for my school xmas ball, and am soooo desperate for these shoes to go with it...

I might die without these babies but at £150 from Ashish @ Topshop I risk not having them.
They are lovely and I recon if I went to Oxford St to try them on they would be comfy.
I would wear them to death.

Do you think it would be a good investment?
I just think cheap shoes suck because they are never comfortable and always look cheap anyway.
I am a believer in 'you get what you pay for'

ps. sorry I have been a terible blogger lately, no outfit posts & not posting frequently, its just I am mid decorating my room and there is now no progess on that because my mum is in hospital, thats in addition to my million essays and ucas/personal statement that I have been occupied with, so bear with me lovelies.

k a t e l o v e s m e - x

Pelayo Diaz Zapico, hot stuff,  St Martins student, model, friend of Gala Gonzalez, and a socialite who seems to know all the right people, (who's blog you can follow here : http://www.katelovesme.net/) has designed the most amazing t-shirt and I want it!

God knows how much it costs, I don't think I want to know.
It will probably be cheaper for me to buy a big blue t-shirt and a truck load of safety pins and DIY it.
I also still want to make a copy of the HOH s/s10 'Borrowed' 'New' 'Old' t-shirts.

I need to get making my friends!
